Southwest University is a comprehensive university in Chongqing, formed by merging a normal university with an agricultural university. Education, psychology, agriculture, food science, biology, Chinese literature and law are among its main fields, and it operates affiliated schools and experimental farms.
International students take Chinese language courses, Chinese-taught degrees in education, agriculture and humanities, or a smaller number of English-taught master programs in education and food science. The main campus in Beibei District sits on the Jialing River at the foot of Jinyun Mountain, about forty minutes from central Chongqing, and the city's hilly terrain and food culture are distinctive.
