East China University of Science and Technology is an engineering university in Shanghai focused on chemical engineering and related applied sciences. Chemical engineering, materials science, chemistry, biotechnology, pharmaceutical engineering, environmental engineering and process control are its established fields.
English-taught programs are available at master and doctoral level in chemical engineering, materials, biotechnology and environmental engineering, and undergraduate teaching is mainly in Chinese with language preparation available. The Xuhui campus is in the city centre and the larger Fengxian campus lies to the south, where most first and second-year students live. Shanghai's chemical, pharmaceutical and materials industries provide placement opportunities.
