Harbin Engineering University is an engineering university in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, with strengths in shipbuilding, marine engineering, nuclear science, automation and underwater technology. Naval architecture, marine engineering, control engineering, nuclear engineering, computer science and materials science are its core fields.
English-taught master and doctoral programs are available in marine engineering, naval architecture, control engineering and nuclear science, and undergraduate teaching is mainly in Chinese. The campus in Nangang District lies along the Songhua River, close to the city centre, and the university's towing tanks, simulators and marine laboratories support practical work with shipbuilding and offshore companies.
